Abaco Swim Club
There has always been a swim club in Abaco. The clubs have been under
several different instructors, parents, and coaches. The goal, however,
has always been the same; make sure participants could swim and swim to
the best of their abilities.
Our club has been independently Abaco run club for two years now. We
promise to keep it as good as you have always known. We will still
operate under The Bahamas Swimming Federation, which gives us
recognition in the Bahamas, as well as allows us to compete in events.
Presently, we operate at the Long Bay School Pool. Our ultimate goal is
to own and operate out of our own pool.
Monday through Friday in the afternoons, the pool is open for
Competitive, Jr. Competitive Masters and Fitness. The time is different
depending on the time of year.
From Spring to Fall we offer a "Learn to Swim" Program. This program is
taught under the "Swim America" program and all the coaches on deck and
in the pool have been trained under "Swim America"
Wednesdays, during the summer months we offer a "Mommy & Me"
program which is for toddlers, under the age of 4 and their mommies to
learn the basics of "bubbles, bobs, and floating, this is a great start to
Learn to Swim!
Wednesdays we offer "Adult Swimming" This program is specially for
those adults who may or may not be able to swim and wish to improve
their overall comfort in the water.
The competitive program is instructed by Coach Laurence Higgs, Coach
Stephen Albury, and Coach Vanessaca Carroll, Coach Brenda Sawyer and
Coach Sara Knowles. Coaches train the swimmers to be able to compete
in swim meets, locally, Nassau and Freeport. In past meets our
swimmers have done very well.
Please keep our sight bookmarked and visit us often for pictures of your
swimmers, upcoming events, time results, station levels completed for our
littlest swimmers, and all sorts of other excitement!
